Eligibility All

This competition is for the design of a structure that:

*will provide one adult a place to sleep elevated off the ground
*can be fabricated out of cardboard boxes that have been discarded
*can be constructed without adhesives, using only cuts and folds in the cardboard
*can be repaired when damaged
*can be fabricated from scratch within a few hours
*will accommodate the uneven site conditions that a person may encounter while sleeping outdoors
*can provide protected storage for personal belongings

This competition is for designs only. The construction and distribution of these structures is not part of the scope.

Public emailed vote

Fabrication instructions of five winning structures will be distributed to people in need of shelter in New York City. The winners will be announced on and publicized as the designers of the competition-winning structures and will be awarded a cash prize. The amount of the prize will be determined after all submissions are received.

Entry Fee

Images should be no larger than 750 KB each. Entries are limited to 10 images.

Judging will end April 30, 2010, at 5:00pm EST.
