Description
The HZMB is an unprecedented important strategic road corridor which links up three regions in the Pearl River Delta, China. The three regions are Hong Kong, Zhuhai and Macao. It provides opportunities for significant social and economic development in these areas for coming decades. The governments of Zhuhai, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) and Macao Special Administrative Region (Macao SAR) have since 2003 formed a HZMB Advance Work Coordination Group to commence the preparatory work of the HZMB. The project is targeted to be in operation in 2015/2016.
The objectives of the Competition are to collect design ideas and concepts for the HKBCF and encourage public participation in the design of the facilities. The ideas and design concepts should achieve the followings: -
• To form a gateway of Hong Kong for the western part of Pearl River Delta via Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB);
• To create an innovative, environmental friendly and iconic landmark of Hong Kong; and
• To invent a theme for the Hong Kong Boundary Crossing Facilities (HKBCF) for further design development of the facilities.
