Overview

Japanese stationary company has launched 7th annual international product design competition for Stationery or Chair used in the office, home, or public spaces. This year's theme is “Carbon”.

Description
We are pleased to announce the opening of the 7th annual Kokuyo Design Award competition. Since its launch in 2002 Kokuyo Design Award has managed to establish itself internationally. Past winning product "Kadokeshi" has been declared as a permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art, New York. The "Campus Note Parakuruno" has been awarded the Good Design Award. The Kokuyo Design Award seeks to cast creativity and ideas into commercial products available to everyone. So come and participate in the Kokuyo Design Award 2008. We look forward to your creative entries.

Judging Criteria
1.have the potential for a future commercial product.
2.employ the genuine functions of the subject tools or products.
3.inspire new design concepts.
4.have the appeal of being customer-oriented and user-friendly.
5.lead to the development of future materials or technologies.

Judging Process
Two-Stage, Anonymous Competition

Prize
Grand Prize: 2 million JPY
Second Prize (4 winners): 500,000 JPY each
Special Prize (5 winners): 100,000 JPY each

Copyright
For entered works that have been awarded, all rights concerning patents, utility models, designs, trademarks, and copyrights in Japan and all other countries shall belong to KOKUYO Co.,Ltd. The prize money awarded as determined by KOKUYO Co.,Ltd. shall be allocated as the cost for transferring said rights.
