Description
LAGI 2014 is an ideas competition to design a site-specific public artwork that, in addition to its conceptual beauty, has the ability to harness energy cleanly from nature and convert it into electricity for the utility grid of the City of Copenhagen.
The design site- Refshaleøen- at its height, was a shipyard that employed thousands of individuals. Its rich historical context and its view across the harbor to the Langelinie and the cherished statue of the Little Mermaid is sure to inspire.
The monetary award will not guarantee a commission for construction. However, LAGI is working with stakeholders in Denmark and internationally to pursue possibilities for implementation of the most pragmatic, aesthetic, and conceptually engaging LAGI designs.
