Description
The aim of this unique competition announced by the capitalcity of Prague is to find a high-quality approach to public spaceon the Prague market premises and allow for a year-round-longlife not only inside of individual buildings but in the public space,too. The task is exacting as Prague climate does not invite yearroundoutdoor activities at first glance. Moreover, public spacerejuvenation is a long-term project alongside reconstruction ofindividual buildings. Reconstruction of individual buildings willbe based on design documents which have been worked on bythe city in an individual competition dealing with individual objects.The reason behind is to maintain architectural heritage,and to invite a professional architectural discourse on each objectindividually. The main principles of future changes are providedin the Masterplan of the complex development, i. e. anurban and architectural study created by the main architect ofbuildings on the market premises.The competition Prague Market Interspaces should result in adesign that will be further developed in cooperation with otherprojects and activities in progress and planned. The authors ofthe design will have to approach the design as a complex taskthat will co-define the future of the whole area. The responsibilityof the political representation of the city, headed by DeputyMayor Pavel Vyhnánek, who is responsible for the site, lies inensuring the conceptual long-term development and operationof the site. The city cooperates with a number of experts in itsdevelopment, whose activities are coordinated within the team.The aim is to achieve the best possible solution, taking into accountall aspects and needs of the site, the space and its usersand visitors to the Market . A representative of the winning studiofrom the competition will be part of this team of collaborators.

Second prize is CZK 1,000,000.
Third prize is CZK 750,000.
