Description
The second Prix Émile Hermès relaunches the award as an international competition, and establishes design as a central focus of the Fondation d’entreprise Hermès, complementing the Foundation’s established policy of support for the visual and performing arts.

Reflecting the Foundation’s support, the prize will acknowledge new criteria in 2011: a keen awareness of the craft skills and industrial manufacturing expertise required for the production of each entry, and a sustainable, environmentally-friendly approach to the manufacturing and distribution of the finished product.

The 2011 competition theme, "Heat, me-heat, re-heat", was announced along with the call for submissions, on September 15, 2010.

I would like to express my warmest thanks to Monsieur Toyo Ito, for graciously accepting the post of president of the jury, for the second Prix Émile Hermès.
