Description
During the historical process, starting with the Industrial Revolution and reaching today, the concept of “speed” has had a profound effect on the perception of space and time and this concept has become one of the fundamental elements of globalization. While the spaces, which are produced rapidly through mass production are standardized and disseminated into the different corners of the globe, contextual characteristics of architecture have undergone a rapid degeneration. When men can travel everywhere in the world with speed and when materials, technologies, design methods and economic priorities are transferred everywhere, the design and production processes of architecture has to be completed with more speed. In these circumstances where speed and quantitative targets become goals in themselves, architecture faces serious problems related with content, meaning and quality.
