Casa per Tutti

The competition is aimed at promoting research on emergency houses. Its goal is pooling and comparing and contrasting projects dealing with an alternative building, social and economic house and settlement model aimed at facing the problems posed by accommodation emergencies in metropolitan areas and areas affected by natural catastrophes and unforeseeable events.

Description
From May to September 2008 Triennale di Milano shall organise an exhibition on accommodation entitled “Casa per tutti” (A House for All).

Against this background and consistently with its tradition, Triennale announces an international public competition aimed at selecting a series of projects of accommodation modules suitable for facing the challenges posed by accommodation emergencies in metropolitan areas and areas suddenly involved in natural catastrophes. The projects shall be exhibited near the sections devoted to the documentation of research on accommodation issues conducted by architects during the 1900s and today.

Prize
The winner: € 5,000
The second place: € 3,000
The third place: € 2,000
The Triennale di Milano shall manufacture a 1/1 scale model of the winning project, which shall be exhibited in the park near the Exhibition. The projects which received a prize and a special mention shall be exhibited in the “Casa per tutti” exhibition at the Triennale di Milano and the winning project and the valuable projects shall be advertised among the suitable institutions and according to the most suitable procedures.
All projects submitted for the competition shall be disclosed on the Triennale web site.

End of the activities of the jury and notification of the results: 24 April 2008
Submission of the winning executive project: 21 May 2008
Beginning of the assembly operation of the accommodation module: 26 May 2008
Inauguration of the accommodation module and ceremony to award prizes to the winning and valuable projects: 26 June 2008
