Description
The Competition has two objectives: first, to create a platform for talented individuals - professionals and students - who are keen on environmental issues; second, to encourage the construction industry as a whole to move towards sustainable design.
This year's competition offers entrants a choice of two briefs. Option 1 is a hypothetical project set in the near future for which entrants may select a site in the cities in which they reside. The second is an actual project brief and site contributed by a developer in Indonesia.

Competition Brief Option #1: This will be a Community Centre of between 8,000 to 10,000 m2 gross floor area to be designed on a site selected by the Entrant. The Centre should envisage community life in the not-too-distant future when environmental considerations are seen - by the communities which the Entrant is familiar with - to be an integral part of everyday living. It should map escalating resource constraints against present-day needs, seeking innovative ways to do more with less. The Centre must include in its design, the following: Library, Classrooms and Auditorium, Gymnasium, Playing court, large enough to fit two full size basketball courts and running track, Food and beverage outlet, Men and women's locker rooms, Administrative office spaces.

Competition Brief Option #2: The Township is part of a housing and commercial project in West Jakarta. The Competition Site is one of five parcels that make up the Township. This parcel must accommodate the two components that make up the Competition Brief: an Office Building with 10,824 m2 in gross floor area and a Water Park with 7,643m2 in gross floor area.
