Description
Odense City Museums wish to create a Hans Christian Andersen House of Fairytales with a surrounding garden that invites people into the writer’s fairytale world and serves as a distinct landmark in Odense. It will be an at- traction that could be created nowhere else in the world, as it is located at the exact spot where the great poet was born. The site where the House of Fairytales and garden are to be situated has a unique authenticity that people from all over the world come to experience in large num- bers. The uniqueness of the place and the special atmos- phere associated with being where Hans Christian An- dersen was born should be reflected and articulated in the building and the garden. The venue should be of iconic significance in passing on the stories of one of the world’s greatest poets from generation to generation, just as it should be a place where Hans Christian Andersen himself is remembered and honoured.
