MADE expo 2010 - Instant House
On the occasion of MADEexpo 2010 (Milano Architettura Design Edilizia), the tradefair event which will take place between 3rd and 6th February 2010 at the Fieramilano exhibition centre in Rho, FederlegnoArredo srl intends to promote a competition aimed at selecting projects which highlight architecture which is sensitive to the environment and territory, to sustainability and the need for human wellbeing and quality of life. A 1:1 scale prototype will be made of the winning project, to be displayed at the international MADE EXPO 2010 event. The competition is aimed at students and new graduates from the faculties of architecture, engineering and industrial design (Italian and foreign), in possession of the requirements referred to in this announcement.

Description
Design proposal requirements:
- choice and definition of the physical properties of the locations
- residential units for 2-4 people (30m²- 60m²) + common services (at least 10 m² for each guest)
- different combinations and unions
- definition of the materials and technology used
The residential unit will be built using materials which take into account the temporary nature and specific technological and ecological specifications of the building itself. The units will be conceived as modules of different sizes: for 2 or 4 people. The chosen location for the project must be a place within the Lombardy metropolitan territory connected with the Expo area and with the collective transportation already in place or envisaged for 2015 and will be closely linked to and coherent with the themes which the entrant intends to develop.
The surface area may be single or divided into several environments. The design must be represented with sufficient structural diagrams and details in order to allow its quality and feasibility to be fully evaluated.
Jury
The judging panel will be composed of:
• two representatives from the Politecnico di Milano;
• two representatives from FederlegnoArredo/MADE expo;
• one representative from the Triennale di Milano
Prize
Winning project: € 1500.00 and creation of the work
Second prize: € 1000.00
Third prize: € 750.00
The judging panel reserves the right to award further honourable mentions for deserving projects.
