Kobe Biennale 2011 - SHITSURAI Art Competition

For the Kobe Biennale 2011, we are accepting applications for "しつらい SHITSURAI" works which will be exhibited by making use of Kobe's single greatest resource – its port. The word “しつらい SHITSURAI” refers to the traditional Japanese method of preparing to receive guests. The term might also be thought of as an "installation"; in other words, we are looking forward to receiving your ideas about how to create fill a space that welcome visitors. In submitting your proposal, please consider how your work can make the most of the spatial characteristics and temporary qualities of Shiosai Park (on Port Island), a vast area with a spectacular view of the city of Kobe and the sea.
