mAAN*Y Singapore 2010 – Let's not talk about architecture

How does the global city react to the specific culture and context of its locality? How will it mitigate the building of economically motivated iconic structures and the living vitality of public spaces? How will it deal with the influx of new cultural influences and ideas? These are the questions that the international ideas competition which is part of the mAAN*Y Singapore 2010 event hopes to explore.

Description
mAAN*Y is a biennal architecture event organized by members of the Modern Asian Architecture Network (mAAN) in collaboration with partners from the host nation, mAAN*Y is a biennial architecture event, conceived as a flexible platform for the exchange of fresh ideas in the advancement of Modern Asian Architecture. Without a set format to how each host nation runs the event, mAAN*Y is specifically targeted at the younger generation, and takes place on alternate years as a counterpoint to the mAAN conference.

With the theme “Let’s not talk about architecture”, the first edition of mAAN*Y will be held in Singapore in 2010 and is co-organized by mAAN and Really Architecture (Re:Act) , a Singapore based group of visionary architecture enthusiasts concerned with the development of architecture in the Asian region. Comprising of an international ideas competition, a workshop and a conference, the event hopes to engage a broad cross section of society and disciplines in the discourse of architecture and this spirit is encapsulated in the theme.
