Eligibility The competition is open internationally to registered architects. Architects should be registered with the Architects Registration Board (ARB) in the UK, or an equivalent overseas regulatory authority.

Description
The UK Nuclear Company – NuGen invite UK and international architects to take part in a design competition for the Moorside Project – a new nuclear power station and a railway at the Moorside Site and associated development including worker accommodation at the Mirehouse site in Whitehaven and on other sites, all within West Cumbria.

The competition seeks designs for an office block and visitor centre for the Moorside Site and a masterplan and typical accommodation block for the Mirehouse site.

The Landscape Institute are simultaneously running a landscape design competition for the best creative and sustainable solutions for providing the setting for the Moorside development.

It is intended that five teams will be selected to proceed to the second phase. Each shortlisted team who submits a phase 2 entry will each receive an honorarium of £5,000 +VAT.
