Description
The timber volume in Sweden and Japan are large. When forests grow the carbon dioxide sequester in trees. After harvesting, carbon dioxide stays in the wood until it either moulders or burns, and is then released back into the atmosphere. A sustainable forest secures a cycle that re-absorb carbon dioxide through the growth of new trees and protects biodiversity. The treasures of the forest is a source of sustainable development and the future of wood should enable an everyday use of it. How can a manmade commonplace – a koja/koya – show the potential of the treasures of the forest? How can these treasures of the forest become a new typology in an urban context, within the dense city centre?

Prize
There will be one prize for the Swedish entries and one for the Japanese entries. The winner from the Swedish teams will win a study visit (travel and accommodation) to Japan, and the winner from the Japanese teams will win a study visit (travel and accommodation) to Sweden in March 2016.

A maximum of 4 A3-format posters (297mm x 420mm) and an usb-key with the entry in digital format
- Brief description of the koja/koya, location and intention
- Brief description how the koja/koya is promot- ing the use of wood and contributes to a wider knowledge about the qualities and assets of the material in itself
- Illustration of the koja/koya with drawings, sketches or pictures

Timetable
