Description
Design is a very important element in the manufacturing value chain. To nurture design talents, SFIC organize the annual Furniture Design Award (FDA) in conjunction with the International Furniture Fair Singapore/ASEAN Furniture Show at the Singapore Expo.
There are 3 Categories: Students Category, Young Designers Category, Open Category.

Competition Type
Students Category and Young Designers Category is Three-Stage: Preliminary Judging (Anonymous, 15 shortlists), Judging Interview (6 shortlists), Final Judging (displayed the prototypes at the Singapore Expo)
Open Category is Two-Stage: Preliminary Judging (6 entries will be shortlisted), Final Judging (displayed the products at the Singapore Expo)
Prize
Students Category, Young Designers Category: FDA Grand Award (S$6,000, Certificate, Trophy), FDA Honorable Mention Award (S$1,000, Certificate, Trophy), FDA Merit Award and “Best Use of Wood” Award (Certificate, Trophy)
Open Category: FDA Grand Award (S$2,000, Certificate, Trophy), FDA Honorable Mention Award (Certificate, Trophy)
