London based practice Wilkinson Eyre Architects has won the competition to design a new swimming pool for Worthing Borough Council. Wilkinson Eyre were selected in preference to Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios, also based in London. Both teams had been identified as preferred teams at the end of the first stage of the competition and were invited to a follow-up interview with the client.

109 expressions of interest were initially submitted for the competition and six teams shortlisted to prepare design work. The four other teams competing for this commission were : Allford Hall Monaghan Morris, London ; Thomas Heatherwick, London with Saville Jones, Worthing ; Pringle Richards Sharratt, London ; and Ian Simpson Architects, London.

Jury
The Jury Panel, which may be subject to change, will include Borough Councillors and Council Officers plus the RIBA Architectural Adviser for this competition, Bill Taylor of Hopkins Architects.

Prize
Each team invited to take part in stage two of the competition will be expected to prepare and submit 2 A1 design boards plus supporting written material. Each team will be paid an honorarium of £6,000 + VAT for the preparation of this design work.

Expressions of interest should be submitted on a maximum of 20 single sided A4 pages in total.
The 20 pages should include the following information:

- an introduction to the team, reasons for applying for this project and what specialist skills the team is able to provide
details of previous related projects, including illustrations
details and brief CVs of key people within the team proposed for this project

- The 20 page submission should be accompanied by the completed pre-qualification questionnaire (PQQ).

Timetable
Jury Panel meet to agree shortlist: w/c 20th April
Site visits for the shortlisted teams: w/c 27th April
Deadline for competitors to submit questions (in writing) relating to the briefing: Wednesday 6th May
Responses to questions raised issued to competitors: Wednesday 13th May
Submission of design work for consideration: Friday 12th June
Final interviews with the team and Jury Panel: w/c 22nd June
