Description
The Congress for the New Urbanism's Charter Awards program recognizes today's best work in urban design, architecture, development, and placemaking. Each year CNU convenes a jury of expert urbanists to review submissions and select the winning entries that best embody and advance the principles of the Charter of the New Urbanism.
CNU welcomes the submission of work representing the full range of project types suggested by the principles of the Charter, including:
Public Policy and Regional Planning (Principle 1)
Infill Development (Principle 4)
Towns & Villages (Principle 5)
Frameworks of Transportation Alternatives (Principle 8)
Neighborhoods (Principle 11)
Interconnected Networks of Streets (Principle 12)
Broad Ranges of Housing Types and Price Levels (Principle 13)
Transit Corridors (Principle 14)
Graphic Urban Design Codes (Principle 17)
Landscape Design (Principle 19)
Architectural Projects (Principle 20)
Civic Buildings and Public Gathering Places (Principle 25)

Entry Fee
The entry fee is $200 per project for CNU members and $300 per project for non-members.
Academic submissions are $50 per project, which includes a one-year CNU student membership.
Entries
Professional: Project Description etc. (A4 two a half pages), Illustrations (five to twelve pages), Digital Images (up to nine total)
Academic: Course/Assignment Description (one page), Project Description etc. (A4 two a half pages), Illustrations (five to twelve pages), Digital Images (up to nine total)
Timetable
Submissions deadline: Professional entries must be shipped or postmarked by December 12, 2007. To accommodate academic schedules, submissions for the academic awards program may arrive in CNU's offices on or before January 2, 2008.
Winners Announcement: February 2008.
Ceremony: during CNU’s fifteenth annual Congress, which runs from April 3-6, 2008, in Austin, Texas, USA
