Description
CoARQ invites all architects, designers and architecture students to participate at the Hotel Centro 2010 International Ideas Competition. This contest involves an estate located in the downtown area in Guadalajara, Mexico. This city was founded for the fourth and last time in 1542 by the Spanish conquers and the streets that surround the estate were drawn up from those times.
It involves a place with nearly 500 years of history, in which buildings have been built and demolished, some of them with architectonic relevance, others with no aesthetic value.
A couple of years ago, the last building that was built during that era, was demolished and has left an empty space in one of the places with most historic relevance in this city, downtown.

THE PROJECT
A unique opportunity is presented to intervene with a zone that has a major affluence in tourists, both national and foreign. In a radius, no bigger than 1.5 miles, you can find places of interest such as: museums, churches, libraries, pedestrian walkways, parks, plazas, historic neighborhoods, traditional markets, among others. This is why the Hotel Centro 2010 International Ideas Competition challenges to design a hotel dedicated to the recreational and cultural tourism that constitutes a building of architectonic relevance that coexists with the immediate context, integrated by buildings constructed between the 16th and 20th centuries.
