Description
The big idea. What is your unique, inspiring and innovative solution for Mr Santa Claus’ logistics center?
As a responsible constructor and investor, Mr Santa Claus wants to revitalise the area that is mostly known for its huge car parks, unattractive industrial buildings, fences and CCTV cameras. We can no longer spread cities out and build warehouses in the middle of nowhere. Mr Claus wants to set an example by densifying the existing area and making it attractive for all kinds of uses.
We are looking for proposals that make the most out of the concept of a logistics center and that turn it into a fascinating solution that considers architectural values. It can be a comprehensive solution or it can be a single innovative technical solution. You are free to utilise Ruukki® Products in your proposals (see the competition website front page ruukki.com/challenge > Ruukki Products).
The site is located in Perävainio in the city of Oulu, which is a busy logistics hub in Northern Finland, located just 10 km from the city center, Oulu Airport and harbour, and a few hundred kilometres from Mr Santa Claus’ headquarters and factory in Korvatunturi.
Since the competition site is largely undeveloped, it’s important to consider the connection between architecture and nature.
Developing the concept of Mr Santa Claus’ logistics center to this part of the city will set a visionary example of how to make the whole area attractive for new uses. The objective of this logistics center is to attract investors and companies to an area where various functions coincide, creating an inspiring cityscape.
