Description
Pohang currently lacks a museum that can serve as a central hub for the systematic collection, research, and exhibition of the region's history, culture, and cultural heritage.
As a result, more than 32,000 cultural artifacts related to Pohang are currently stored outside the region. Pohang City aims to establish a museum that will reclaim, preserve, exhibit, and utilize these valuable cultural assets while safeguarding the city's identity and history for future generations.
The project seeks to create a strong cultural and tourism value chain by linking the museum with major regional attractions, including the Homi Peninsula National Marine Eco-Park and Guryongpo Japanese House Street. Through this strategy, Pohang aims to become a leading historical and cultural tourism destination in the Pan-East Sea region.
